“There’s A Difference Between Source and Resource”

“There’s A Difference Between Source and Resource”

Who knew that two little letters could make a tremendous difference in meaning…it’s so important to never forget the SOURCE that provides all the resources. So often we can spend too much time giving energy and focus to the resources we have or  striving to obtain when in essence we forget who is the SOURCE – God Himself.

There are times when we take our eyes off the SOURCE and begin to give all our commitment and energy to the resources whether it’s our careers, our home, our monies, our families, even our churches. I don’t deny that a resource can be a very valuable thing that’s necessary to survive but we can never forget the SOURCE.

This thought made me think of how the word source was defined in the dictionary: the source is a noun that refers to an origin from which something is obtained. A source can sometimes refer to a generative force; in such cases, a source also acts as a cause. Another definition simply said a source is a place or thing that provides us with what we are looking for…”

God is that generative force which can cause anything to happen, to grow, to shift, to turn around, or simple stop in place. He can create something out of nothing. He can move mountains – especially since HE spoke them into being (smile).

Tony Evans puts its plain and simple “God IS your SOURCE; everything else is just a resource.”

Don’t lose sight of the SOURCE….thank God HE doesn’t lose sight of us.

  1. It’s so strategic, funny and right on TIME that I just finished doing my budget. I was just sitting here thinking- WHEW – ITS TIGHT and HOW! THEN shortly after I said to myself- arrogantly and adamantly with a quiet CONFIDENCE- GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF ME….

NOW THIS- I CONFESS AGAIN- GOD IS MY SOURCE!!!! – and when in need he will RE-SOURCE through whatever avenue he wills to DO!!!! YESS! Yes, Yes!!! GROW UP and trust your heavenly FATHER…

    THANK YOU…yet again
    Precious-

  2. Dr. Robin, you hit the nail on the head here! Our humanity sometimes gets in the way, and we focus on the created things as
opposed to our Creator. We have to be cognizant of the fact that some resources, although important, cannot occupy a higher place in our lives than God, who is our true source.
