“ALL”- A Small Word But Powerful Meaning
Robin Comments 3 comments
All is such a small word but in the WORD it’s so powerful. There are very familiar verses that use the word “all” – “ALL things work together for good…” (Rom 8:28) “I can do ALL things through Christ that strengthens me…” (Phil 4:13) “…..with God ALL things are possible” (Mark 10:27)
But do we really embrace the meaning of the word “ALL”? Do we believe it applies to every situation, every closed or opened door, every breakthrough, every blessing, every illness, every job loss or promotion, every divorce or marriage, everything…? ALL things ‘truly’ work together regardless of the circumstance.
How can one embrace all things working together for good when a child has been lost, when a love one is diagnosed with a terminal disease, when a house has been foreclosed – how can this work together for good?
We must truly internalize the meaning of “ALL” not only in our thinking but in our heart and in our soul – it’s what will allow us to keep moving forward. It’s what will allow us the strength to stand in the mist of our heartache. It’s what will allow us to be comforted by the Holy Spirit. It’s what keeps us going even when it makes no sense.
Note that this verse doesn’t say ALL things are good – it states that ALL things will work together for good. God can restore anything for our good and His Glory. All things may not be good, but God can and will use ALL things for good.
This is where our faith and trust must be in the forefront of our thinking and belief. If we truly believe that all things work together for our good – we won’t exhaust ourselves is trying to “figure out” God’s ways…or look for answers to the “why” questions.
We who love God must trust HIS goodness, HIS power and HIS will to work ALL things together for our good. It can and it will. We persevere because we know that ALL things will and must work together for our good and His glory.

Great word, Robin.
Thank you ‘Dr. Eubanks for sharing. That was really a great way to look at the word “all”.
Well stated! Especially this… “doesn’t say ALLthings are good – it states that ALLthings will work together for good.” It’s Important to recignize that fact.
